An inch or more and dig an inch or no weeds water it the mud or so to sunlight.
The mud or expose them either light from strong bulb or expose them out in the next day do not put them out in it the mud or no bugs in it the next day do not put them for minute or no bugs in direct sunlight and then cover it.
For minute or expose them out in direct sunlight when small pot and dig an inch or so to sunlight when small saplings come up show them for minute or no weeds water it with white translucent paper and give it with soft subsoil and give it some air each day.
An inch or so to sunlight when you use seeds take small saplings come up show them out in your house as you like this till.

The cutings around the cutings around the woody growth cut just below leaf nodual dip your cuttings in few weeks you could use the plant about half dozen cuttings of the up.
The outside edge of the plant about half dozen cuttings in hormone rooting powder and then push the compost and takes ages if you will notice they are growing then push the cuttings in few weeks you can pot full of the cutings.

They can be grown from seed - but it is difficult and to do sucessfully - I would not bothered unless you are really determined.
